Since you're reading this post, my bet is you want to become a better musician this year. Your goal is to be better in January 2021 than you are today.
The good news is, it is so easy for that to happen. The bad news is, it's up to you to make it happen. What I mean by that is, the true secret to becoming a good musician is to create the discipline in yourself that is needed to practice consistently, striving to improve.
To be clear, that doesn't mean hours upon hours a day, practicing. Improvement comes more with the frequency and focus in your practice more so than knocking 4 hours out on a Saturday and not touching your instrument again until the following weekend.
All this you probably know and understand. That's why it's entirely up to you to create that habit of working constantly to reach your musical goals.
Throughout this year, I'll offer single focus areas that, as a musician, you should be very familiar with. The first, you must know the notes on your instrument. Plain and simple. It's not hard to learn and if you start today, and focus on doing this, I can promise you that you'll be able to find the notes everywhere on your instrument, with just a few weeks of practice.
